Armytek Price C2 Pro Magnet USB
Introduction
We often wonder which is the perfect EDC flashlight, the one to always have on hand and which can be used daily for any type of work and on any occasion. The answer is obviously not simple because there are many companies that produce flashlights of any type, suitable for specific scenarios or handyman torches with infinite features, super-equipped capable of producing different beams, with extremely complex and feature-rich user interfaces (the mostly useless). Among the infinite models of torches on the market, the Armytek Prime C2 Pro Warm Magnet USB stands out for its simplicity and completeness, a torch with a very long name that anticipates some of its characteristics. Over the years, this torch has undergone a series of modifications both from a technical and functional point of view until today it is, for those who have had the opportunity to try it, the perfect EDC to always have with you in your pocket, car and in the drawer at home, always ready for use.

The body and the materials
The Armytek Prime C2 pro magnet usb is a torch with a linear design, ideal as an EDC torch for everyday use.
It is equipped with a Cree XHP50.2 LED with Warm tint and with a honeycomb TIR lens and produces a flood beam whose hotspot exit angle is 70° while the Spill exit angle is 120°.
The maximum power when using the highest output level (Turbo 3) is 2400 lumens with a maximum luminous intensity of 3800 candela corresponding to a maximum range of approximately 123 meters.
The head features a particularly thick stainless steel bezel that protects the lens from any impacts.
Bundled with the light comes a stainless steel belt clip that allows it to be installed on any type of garment, pocket, backpack, duffel bag etc.
There are dissipation fins on the head. The lettering is perfect and well centered.
The central part of the body is smooth but the particular anodization guarantees a good grip even when your hands are wet, damp or if you are wearing gloves.
The tail cap is magnetic therefore the torch can be attached to any metal surface both vertically and horizontally: an indispensable function when you need to work with your hands free.
The tailcap also acts as a charging station using the special custom cable supplied.
The charging cable is magnetic therefore it will be enough to bring it close to the tail of the flashlight and it will automatically position itself in the right position. Inside the charging cable there are green and red LEDs which inform the user about the battery charge status.
There is a single interface management switch and it is located near the head. It is yellow in color, like all other Armytek torches, it is protruding, rubberized and is easily identifiable and responsive to pressure. Inside there is a Status LED that flashes to indicate the residual capacity of the cell and the progress of the recharge.
The Armytek Prime C2 Pro has a flat tail therefore it is possible to use the tailstanding torch resting on flat surfaces. The body is made entirely of aluminum alloy with a particular matte finish which makes this flashlight non-slippery and pleasant to the touch. The particular anodization makes this light resistant to scratches, falls and bad weather. Armytek guarantees this flashlight as water resistant to IP68 standard and submersible up to 10m depth for two hours. In addition, the impact resistance is given up to an incredible height of 10m.
The flashlight also comes with a high-performance 3500mAh 18650 cell which guarantees all the power necessary for the flashlight to release its 2000 lumens at Turbo and high runtimes when using Medium / Low levels.
The Nylon holster that Armytek supplies for this model is also comfortable:
User interface and output levels
The available output levels are many and well spaced: in fact we have 3 Turbo levels, 3 Main levels, 3 Firefly levels and 3 Strobe levels divided as follows:
- Turbo3: 2400 lm/2 h 48 min (610 lm after 30 sec)
- Turbo2: 1710 lm/2 h 48 min (610 lm after 1 min 30 sec)
- Turbo1: 815 lm/2 h 44 min (610 lm after 22 min)
- Main3: 350 lm/5 h 20 min
- Main2: 150 lm/12 h 30 min
- Main1: 40 lm/40 h 30 min
- Firefly3: 5 lm/12 d
- Firefly2: 1 lm/40 d
- Firefly1: 0.15 lm/200 d
- Strobe3: 2400 lm/10 Hz/5 h 45 min (610 lm after 2 min)
- Strobe2: 2400 lm/1 Hz/12 h (610 lm after 10 min)
- Strobe1: 150 lm/1 Hz/55 h
It is possible to mechanically lock the torch by slightly unscrewing the tailcap even though the threads are not anodized.
The Armytek Prime C2 Pro Magnet USB is also a safe flashlight that has different safety mechanisms:
- High brightness safe modes. Turbo modes give maximum brightness until the flashlight temperature and battery discharge current exceed critical values.
- Digital light stabilization and safe soft start system help increase runtime, prolong the life of the rechargeable battery and protect it from excessive discharge or overheating.
- Active temperature control. When the temperature of the flashlight approaches +58 °С, the brightness drops to the safe value, allowing the flashlight to avoid overheating for a long time. Under conditions of good air cooling the flashlight emits light without sagging.
- The warning indication shows the battery level and the temperature inside the flashlight.
- Low battery level. When the battery level is approximately <25%, the colored LED will show the warning level by flashing orange once every 2 seconds. With further voltage reduction, the brightness will begin to gradually decrease for battery and user safety. If the brightness of the mode (except Firefly and Main1 modes) is approximately <25% of the nominal value, the main LED will flash 2 times. Critical battery level of approximately <10% is indicated by a red light flashing once per second.
The user interface is full of functions but very simple to use: there are two modes of use that are useful for different scenarios and which differ in the output levels present:
- “General Type” whose available output levels are: Firefly1, Firefly2, Main modes, Turbo mode (last used in Advanced, Turbo2 by default)
- “Advanced Type” which features all mode sections: [1] – Firefly modes, [2] – Main modes, [3] – Turbo modes, [4] – Strobe modes.
In “General Type” ON status: 1 click to turn off the torch. From any mode, press and hold the switch to begin cycling through the various output levels. 2 click the switch to activate Turbo mode from any mode. The second double-click takes you back to the last used output level.
In “General Type” on OFF status: 1 click to activate the last output level used. Press and hold the switch to start cycling through Firefly modes. Holding down the button will cause the flashlight to cycle through the main modes.
In “Advanced Type” to OFF state: 1 click to turn off the flashlight. Press and hold to start scrolling through the modes of the relevant section.
In “Advanced Type” to ON status: 2 clicks to activate the Main Modes section. Double click to switch to next section mode. 3 clicks to activate the Turbo section. 4 clicks to activate the strobe section.
Beam, Tint and Beamshot
The Armytek Prime C2 Pro Magnet USB produces a fairly wide and bright beam of light, with a very bright large central part and a perfectly usable spill for the immediate vicinity. The tint is really very very nice, it reminds me of some Zebralights I’ve owned in the past: it’s a warm color with some pinkish notes. Although it does not have a Hi CRI LED, the light of this torch renders colors very well, especially in nature.
At maximum power it is possible to illuminate well even at about sixty meters even if, after a while (about 1 and a half minutes), the 2230 lumens (in reality about 1950 lumens) begin to inexorably overheat the small metal mass of which the torch is composed by intervening the stepdown that adjusts the output to a lower brightness level to preserve the internal parts of the flashlight and the hands of those who are using it XD.
Here are some shots in the dark.
